Pocket Watch
German, 1580's. Almost identical watches were being made in Lodon by 1600. They were such poor time-keepers that just an hour hand was considered sufficient. It disappoints me to say it, but this watch has a battery powered quartz movement: there was no realistic alternative. Diameter 8.5cm. |
