The Order was introduced to England from France during the reign of Edward III, who restricted the number of Knights in the Order to twenty six. The motto ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’ translates to ‘Evil to him who evil thinks’. Length 108cm. |

Order of the Golden Fleece
Founded by Philip III the Good, Duke of Bergundy, in 1430, at Bruges in Flanders. The Order was composed of a Grand Duke and 23 knights, though the number was increased to 51. The Order defended the Roman Catholic religion and the codes of chivalry, settling any dispute that arose between the knights.

Tudor Chain
In 1545 this collar was bequethed to the City of London by the Mayor, Sir John Allen, for his successors to use. It combines the Lancastrian ‘S’, the Tudor rose, the tasselled knots of the Garter and also the portcullis. Length 90cm.
